As of right now Priyanka Chopra is at 22873 and I think her closest rival is Mallika Sherawat at 11448.
Although Mallika's account is verified which is something Priyanka should look into doing!
There are Twitter accounts listed for Bollywood stars like Bipasha Basu Katrina Kaif Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone you cant tell if they are real unless they are verified.

Twitter is a great way to keep up with the stars.

Bollywood's Mallika Sherawat Conquers Hollywood

Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat is continuing her assault on Hollywood and it looks like she's winning.

Friday (August 14) Mallika will be getting an honor that no other Bollywood star has received.
Because of her contributions to the Hollywood film industry and charities she will be made an honorary citizen of Los Angeles by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
Also in attendance at the ceremony will be the former Mayor Richard Riordan Council member Jose Huizar and the Los Angeles City Council.

And according to rumors Mallika is considering getting her body insured the way pro footballer Cristiano Ronaldo got his legs insured.

Mallika made quite a smash at the premiere of Quentin Tarantino's new movie.
Her outfit got as much attention as she did.
And she got quite a lot talking to not only Tarantino but Brett Ratner and others as well.
Her dress for the premiere has been pretty much universally slammed by online fashion sources.
Me?
Actually I kinda liked it.
Realize of course I grew up reading comics and the dress reminded me of the femme fatale/super villainess' from the comics.
When I saw the pic of her and Brett Ratner (who made X-Men: The Last Stand) I thought " If he does another X-Men movie there's his Black Queen!"

From what I saw Quentin looked enamored with Mallika.
Could we be seeing her in an upcoming Tarantino movie perhaps?
Maybe we should wait and see how Hisss does first.

Bollywood Actress Katrina Kaif The Good and The Bad

While Mallika Sherawat seems to be conquering Hollywood Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif seems to be conquering everything else.
Katrina has been honored with the Rajiv Gandhi Award under the Best Actress category in Hindi cinema.
Katrina is also being listed as the most "Googled" actress in Bollywood cinema and she was voted "The Sexiest Woman in India" by FHM.

But despite all that everything isn't coming up roses for Katrina.
Actor Jackie Shroffâ€™s wife Ayesha Shroff has come forth and announced that Katrina Kaif's real name is Katrina Turquotte.
Katrina has always maintained that her Kaif surname was due to her Kashmiri father but Ayesha says that the name on Katrina's passport when she came to India was Katrina Turquotte.

According to all accounts Rimi was a big hit.
Also on hand there were Bollywood stars Sameera Reddy Amrita Rao Riya Sen and Minisha Lamba.

Rimi has several movies coming out this year.
Sankat City has already been released to a generally good reception Horn Ok Pleasss (with Nana Patekar Muzammil Ibrahim and Rakhi Sawant) Airport and Yahan Ke Hum Sikander.

Priyanka Chopra in What's Your Raashee?

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's new movie "What's Your Raashee?"comes out today and the critics seem to like it except for one thing.
It's three and a half hours long.

In the film Priyanka gets a role that would make Jim Carrey or Eddie Murphy proud she gets to play twelve different characters.

The film is a romantic comedy (the first) from director Ashutosh Gowariker.
He also directed the award winning films Lagaan Swades and Jodhaa Akbar.
But to maintain interest for over three hours is quite a feat as a lot of directors have found out the hard way.

The films plot is a Chicagoan (Harman Baweja) returns home to Mumbai and has ten days to find a wife and get his Grandfather's inheritance.
He interviews twelve women (all played by Priyanka) each with a different astrological sign (raashee) and each with their own unique personality which gives Priyanka time to show off her acting abilities.

I understand the length of the movie.
Cutting it down to say 2 hours would have lost a lot of story.
Ashutosh couldn't very well have taken the film and pulled a Quentin Tarantino making "What's Your Raashee" Part 1 and Part 2 ala "Kill Bill".
So I think the movie had to pretty much be made the way it was.

Now will the audiences feel the same way?

Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has enrolled at Harvard Business School a graduate business school in Boston Massachusetts and will be studying negotiating and deal-making.
It sounds like the lovely Preity is planning for her life after acting.
Or maybe she just wants to make more of an impact know in the Bollywood scene.
HBS was ranked number one among American business schools by the U.S. News & World Report so she is in good hands.

Beautiful Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif was almost involved in a riot when she showed up to promote her film Azab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani in Hyderabad.
She appeared at a shopping mall and a huge crowd of her fans showed up to see her things got outta hand and Katrina made a run for it reportedly injuring her leg.
But the fans werent put off that easily and kept chasing her by car and bicycle.
They should have been ready for this though because it happened to her last year in Hyderabad.
Maybe more security next time?

If you run across Sameera Reddy's profile on a dating site it isn't her.
Sameera is just one of many Bollywood actresses that have fallen prey recently to Internet hoaxes.
Like Sammera would need a dating site.
Riiiight.

Recently Asin's online e-mail ID was hacked and someone has been impersonating Katrina Kaif online as well.
Sonam Kapoor's Facebook account was also hacked and private pictures were stolen.
Katrina (will her online problems ever end?) Freida Pinto and Asin (again) have also had to deal with people setting up fake Twitter accounts.

On the other hand the REAL Priyanka Chopra is still doing very well with 81588 followers.
And the real Mallika Sherawat is still trailing her with a very respectable 24322 followers.

Isha Koppikar (Eesha Koppikhar) is getting married on November 26th to Timmy Narang
But before that she will be filming an item number for Neeraj Pathak film Right Yaa Wrong.

It looks like it's turning into a numbers game for Priyanka Chopra movies.
Recently she released "What's Your Raashee?" in which she played twelve different characters and now she is slated to star in the upcoming Bollywood movie "Seven" as a character that has seven husbands.
Rumor has it that Indian film actor and producer Mohanlal will play one of her husbands and that Indian actor Hrithik Roshan may play another.
Filming is schedualed to begin in 2010.

And while "Seven" may start filming in 2010 on Februrary 12th a movie will come out that is generating a lot of buzz already.
"My Name is Khan" stars Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Expect this Bollywood film to go big as it is being distributed by Fox Star Studios India in India Fox Searchlight in the U.S. and 20th Century Fox worldwide.
And to boost it even further the first promo for "My Name is Khan" will be released with James Cameron's much anticipated Avatar which opens globally on December 18.

Madhuri Dixit is in negotiations to play her her idol former prime minister Indira Gandhi in Krishna Shah's biopic.
But don't expect this film to have an easy path.
Biopics on Indira Gandhi by Jagmohan Mundhra and N. Chandra have been tried and shot down already.
Madhuri is a legend in Hindi cinema so don't expect her to commit until things are a bit more finalized with the film.

Karan Johar's new Bollywood film "Kurbaan" has not made a killing at the box office and been getting mixed reviews but everyone seems to think that Kareena Kapoor (as Avantika Ahuja) has turned in a great performance.
The film that had location shoots in Philadelphia and Brooklyn ran into a bit of trouble before release when a petition was filed in the Bombay High Court to stay the release of movie.
After responses from Karan Johar Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor the court declined to stay the release of the film.
But back to Kareena....

Of course Ben Kingsley is well known for his Oscar winning performance playing Gandhi but now he wil bring another figure in Indian history to life Shah Jahan the man who built the Taj Mahal.
And starring as Mumtaz Mahal (Jahan's favored wife and the woman whose death inspired the construction of the Taj Mahal) will be the lovely Aishwarya Rai.
The upcoming film "Taj" will have a budget over $30 million dollars and Kingsley will not only star in the movie but produce it as well.

Now that the filming of My Name Is Khan has wrapped up Kajol is finishing up on her next upcoming Bollywood film an adaptation of the 1998 American comedy-drama Stepmom.
The original starred Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon and the Bollywood remake will star Kajol (in the role Susan Sarandon played in the original) and Kareena Kapoor (in the Julia Roberts role).
As of yet the film is still officially not titled.

In contrast to what you hear about a lot of Bollywood actress sniping at each other Kajol and Kareena appear to be getting along fabulously.

My Name Is Khan and the Stepmom Remake are not her only upcoming roles as Kajol will be involved in India's first Live-Action and 3D animation combination feature film Toonpur Ka Superhero and doing a voice in the animated take on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai Koochie Koochie Hota Hain.
Shahrukh Khan Rani Mukherji Sanjay Dutt will also be doing voices in the film.

Madhuri Dixit Priyanka Chopra Kajol and Aishwarya Rai

Bollywood is still wondering if the legendary Madhuri Dixit will accept the role of Indira Gandhi (India's first and only female Prime Minister) in Krishna Shah's upcoming biopic.
But while everyone is waiting on Madhuri Krishna is approaching Hollywood stars like Tom Hanks Tommy Lee Jones Albert Finney Helen Mirren and Emily Watson for roles in the movie.
But while her role as Indira Gandhi may still be up in the air Madhuri appears to be going ahead with portraying another historical Indian figure Ambapali (AmbapÄlika or AmrapÄli).
Indian film director and choreographer Farah Khan is planning to produce a Broadway show based on Amrapali and she wants Madhuri for the lead.

Another Bollywood film generating a lot of buzz is My Name Is Khan starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Just by looking at the trailer both Kajol and Khan look they turn in very powerful performances.

She is filming the science-fiction Tamilâ€“language film Endhiran the Tamil language drama film Raavana (and the same movie Raavan in Hindi) the time travel film Action Replay and finally (for now at least) Guzaarish.

Kajol's much anticipated "My Name Is Khan" will be released on February 12 2010 but the soundtrack was already released on January 4 2010.
The music is by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with lyrics by Niranjan Iyengar.

The film will be shown at the Berlin in International Film Festival from Feb 11 to 21 2010.

I mentioned in an earlier post that beautiful Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra would be starring in the upcoming Bollywood film "Seven" as a woman that weds seven different men.
(Among those men are Malayalam superstar and National Award winner Mohanlal and Indian actor Hrithik Roshan)
But unlike "Whatâ€™s Your Rashee?" where the lovely Priyanka played twelve different roles in this one she will only be playing one.
It seems that "Whatâ€™s Your Rashee?" was enough for Priyanka but rumors say she has said that she will never play multiple roles in her again.
Can you blame her?
That has to be VERY taxing on anyone.
"Pyaar Impossible" her last film got mixed reviews so lets hope "Seven" does a lot better.

Kareena Kapoor will be co-starring with ShahRukh Khan in the upcoming superhero film "Ra-1".

Hey it may be a nice change from the constant gloom we get in super hero flicks today.

I mentioned in the last entry that Aishwarya Rai will be starring in the upcoming Sci-Fi movie Endhiran.
What I didnt mention was that this will be Aishwarya's Tamil cinema debut.
And Endhiran will most likely wind up being the most expensive film ever made in Indian cinema.
Endhiran is expected to be released on April 14 2010.

But you have to remember that's all it is...a rumor.
Other reports from the set said that everything was going fine and that everyone was having fun.
This is Kangna's first comedy and she will be playing the younger sister of Sushmita Sen.

The 55th Idea Filmfare Awards 2009 were held in Mumbai on February 27 and boy did I miss every single one of the Bollywood actresses!

I predicted Katrina Kaif for Best Actor In A Leading Role â€“ Female totally missed.
Vidya Balan won for Paa.

I chose Dimple Kapadia for Best Actor In A Supporting Role â€“ Female.
Nope it went to Kalki Koechlin for Dev D.

I picked Shreya Ghoshal for Best Playback Singer â€“ Female.
They had two winners...and neither one was my choice!
Rekha Bharadwaj for Genda Phool in Delhi-6 and Kavita Seth for Iktara in Wake Up Sid.

Maybe I shouldn't have made any picks....LOL

Chitrangada Singh - Bollywood Femme Fatale

Indian film actress Chitrangada Singh was born on March 28th 1982 in Meerut India.
In a recent article at The Telegraph Chitrangada was listed as one of the "irresistible desi femme fatales" in Indian cinema.
Like a lot of Bollywood actresses she started out as a model then moved to music videos.
She made her big screen debut in the Bollywood film Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi directed by Sudhir Mishra.
Interestingly the film was made in 2003 but was released in 2005.
Although the film didn't do well at the box office the critics called it "a masterpiece and one of the best movies of the year".

Chitrangada released another film Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow in 2005 then took a break from acting.
In 2008 she came back in the film Sorry Bhai! with Shabana Azmi Boman Irani Sanjay Suri and Sharman Joshi.

For 2010 she has two upcoming movies so far.....
Basra with Abhay Deol Nikhil DwivediShahana Goswami and Soniya Mehra a thriller that seems to lean towards martial arts action and Dhruv directed by Sudhir Mishra.
Kareena Kapoor is rumored to appear in Dhruv.

Though Chitrangada has had a short career she has already won the 2006 Bollywood Movie Award for Best Female Debut and been nominated for the 2005 Zee Cine Award for Most Promising Debut - Female the 2005 Apsara Award for Best Actress and the 2006 Screen Award for Most Promising Newcomer - Female .

Bollywood Actresses - Vimala Raman Sayali Bhagat and Amrita Arora

Indian film actress and model and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer Vimala Raman will be making her Bollywood debut in Ambapali a remake of the 1966 film starring Vyjayanthimala Bali and Sunil Dutt.
Vimala has gotten rave reviews for her work in Tamil Malayalam Telugu and Kannada films.
The film will be directed by Ashutosh Gowariker and possibly Salman Khanwill take up the Sunil Dutt role.

Indian tennis player Sania Mirza will be marrying ex-captain of the Pakistan cricket team Shoaib Malik in April leaving Shoaib's ex-girlfiend Indian actress and former Miss India Sayali Bhagat out in the cold.
Some reports say that Sayali was caught off guard by the wedding announcement.
I'm no expert but I think I would have went with Sayali.

Katrina Kaif News and Upcoming Bollywood Movies

A whole bunch of Katrina Kaif news today.....

First up Katrina will be doing her first "bad guy" role in the upcoming Bollywood film Tees Maar Khan.
Katrina is said to be studying Meryl Streepâ€™s role in The Devil Wears Prada for inspiration.
To say this is a change of pace for Katrina would be an understatement as she is known for her sweet innocent roles.
Tees Maar Khan also stars Akshay Kumar and Akshay Khanna and is set for a December 2010 release.

And before Tees Maar Khan hits the screens the political thriller Raajneeti will be released starring Ajay Devgan Katrina Kaif Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal.

And there are several articles coming out saying that Katrina was the most searched for Bollywood actress in 2009.
I havent seen anything official yet from Google but thanks to Katrina's popualrity I wouldnt doubt it.
I did a quick search myself and came up with over six million hits for the Bollywood beauty just last month.
There are also rumors that she is more popular in Pakistan than in India.

Katrina told PTI that she is considering getting married in two years.
She is currently dating Salman Khan and before this she has avoided any comments on when she might be settling down.
But two years is still a while away.

And finally Katrina launched the diamond jewellery brand Nakshatra Vivaah's collection last week.

Bollywood to Hollywood?

Bollywood actresses seem to be getting more and more attention worldwide.
And since they are getting attention that gets the notice of Hollywood.
Here are some of the big Bollywood actresses that are either thinking about going to Hollywood have already gone there or are rumored to be going there.
By the way in a reversal of this Twilight star Kristen Stewart is not going to Bollywood to star in Panni as was earlier rumored.

It seems there was a battle heating up between Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto and former Miss World and India's most successful actress Aishwarya Rai.
Rumor had it that both were being considered for the Bond girl in the next James Bond film.
But this battle may all be for naught as the next Bond film has been suspended indefinitely and has been shelved.
The sequel (so far only known as Bond 23) was scheduled for release in late 2011 or in 2012 to coincide with the franchise's 50th anniversary.
Eon Productions' parent company MGM is in a financial mess right now so we may never know if Ash or Freida would have won out.

She recently won the the 2008 Renaissance Artist Award at the Multicultural Motion Picture Associationâ€™s Diversity Awards.
In the past actresses like Salma Hayek Halle Berry and Monica Belluci have won the award.

I expected Katrina Kaif Kajol Priyanka Chopra Madhuri Dixit at the top but that wasn't the case.

So here are the top ten most searched for Bollywood women on this blog recently....

Yes coming in at number one was a lady that was a total surprise to me Kiran Rathod.

Lovely Bollywood actress Riya Sen is quite busy these days.
She will be appearing in Tere Mere Phere which marks the debut of actress turned director Deepa Sahi as a ...well director.
Riya will be co-starring with Vinay Pathak.

Then Riya will be appearing with Kay Kay Menon and Rajpal Yadav in the film Benny and Babloo.
The movie is being produced by Umesh Chouhan and will also star Shweta Tiwari and Rukhsar.

Tamil and Telugu actress Trisha Krishnan will be debuting in Bollywood in the film "Khatta Meetha" opposite Akshay Kumar.
Trisha Krishnan was born on May 4th 1983 in Pallakad Kerala India and made her acting debut in the 2002 Tamil film Laysa Laysa in a small part as Gayathri's (played by Simran) girlfriend.

This actress is a slight departure from the usual ladies here.
Sunaina is an Indian film actress but she works in Tamil Telugu Kannada and Malayalam films not Bollywood.
She was born on April 17th 1987 in Nagpur Maharashtra India.

As I said she has appeared in Telugu Kannada and Malayalam movies but the bulk of her work is in Tamil cinema which is nick-named Kollywood.
The industry is based in the Kodambakkam district of Chennai so Kollywood is Kodambakkam and Hollywood ran together like Bombay and Hollywood make Bollywood.
Kollywood is the third biggest film industry in India after Bollywood and Tollywood.

Anyway back to Sunaina...

Kajol and Kareena Kapoor in We Are Family

Kajol's latest film was just released and it seems to be doing fairly well.
It should considering it stars two of the hottest actresses in Bollywood.
We Are Family was directed by Siddharth Malhotra produced by Karan Johar stars Kajol Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal and is a remake of the 1998 Hollywood film Stepmom.

In the film Kajol plays Maya a stay at home wife who gave up her career to raise her three children.
She has divirced her husband Aman (Arjun Rampal) and the story centers around Aman introducing his new girlfriend Shreya (Kareena Kapoor).

Shreya is the opposite of Maya a career oriented woman and the situation between them takes an unexpected turn when the two women are brought together under the same roof.

Of course being a Bollywood film it differs from it's Hollywood counterpart in that it has six songs including a tribute to Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock.

We Are Family seems to be doing pretty well with the critics.

This is Kajol and Kareena's second film together the first being 2001's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham...

Kajol said that she based a lot of her character Maya on her grandmother Bina Rai who passed away in December of last year.

Sonakshi Sinha In Zarine Khan Out?

Sonakshi Sinha was born on June 2nd1987.
She just made her acting debut in the Hindi action film Dabangg along side her mentor Salman Khan.
Yes Sonakshi is the new protege of Salman replacing the Katrina Kaif look a like Zarine Khan who just debuted in the not so epic Veer alongside Salman back in January.
Maybe Zarine looked too much like Katrina.

Anyway as opposed to Veer Dabangg opened really well with some single screen theatres reporting 100% occupancy while some multiplexes reported an 80 to 100% occupancy.
It actually beat the record opening day of last years mega hit 3 Idiots netting 3.26 million the first day.
So far it has pulled in over 31 million dollars worldwide.

This bodes quite well for Sonakshi and makes you wonder what will become of Zarine now.

And as for Sonakshi's future there is a rumor that she has beaten out both Katrina (gasp!) and Deepika Padukone to star opposite Akshay Kumar in Joker!

Manisha was born on August 16 1970 in Kathmandu Nepal.

And then there was the Pet situation in which a media report claimed Manisha had named her pet dog after a revered Muslim figure.
The problem was a police investigation showed that Manisha didn't even own a pet.

Now Manisha has gotten married and she says that her career will be taking a back seat to her marriage.
But she will still be involved in cinema.
